  • Bachelor in Paradise star Katie Morton opened up about her narcolepsy on Instagram stories.
  • Katie says she experiences brain fog, feels emotional, and is tired constantly.
  • On the bright side, Katie says she missed the Stagecoach drama as a result of her condition.

As the days of Bachelor in Paradise dwindle, the remaining couples are currently dealing with ALL the feelings. But Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton have also been dealing with some health concerns all along the way.

Apparently Chris was “allergic to Paradise” and now Katie is opening up about her narcolepsy on Instagram. When a follower asked, “Is it hard to manage while traveling, etc?” the reality star responded with all the details on her stories. Katie explained her symptoms and how it’s affected her experience on Bachelor in Paradise.

“It is/isn’t. I sometimes say WHY THE HECK am I so emotional? Or WHY am I so tired? Then I’m thinking… duh Katie, you are narcoleptic stop forgetting,” she wrote. “But as a narcoleptic you know that you have brain fog and you’ll keep forgetting. It’s a cycle.”

Katie went on, explaining what it feels like to have narcolepsy: “I describe my narcolepsy to people like a little kid who needs a nap,” she wrote. “Sometimes I’m hyper before the nap and sometimes I’m whining.”

Although the exact cause of narcolepsy isn’t known, it’s linked to low levels of chemicals called hypocretin, which regulate wakefulness, per research from Harvard. It can take time to figure out how to best manage it.

Katie shared how she’s learned to manage her symptoms. “I am constantly tired but I’ve learned when to take my medicine, what I can and can’t eat that will make me more naturally tired, and that sometimes I have to say NO to Neon Carnival at Stagecoach bc I just can’t go with everyone else and stay awake,” she wrote. “Turns out this year was a good year to turn in early usually FOMO!”
