Residents of Barwessa ward in Baringo North sub county have threatened to kill more than 300 elephants that have invaded their farms.

They said the elephants have been storming their farms causing massive destruction.

“On Wednesday night, the colony of elephants invaded my mangoes and banana farm and destroyed the fence and everything else,” resident William Chepkeitany told the Star today on Thursday.

Kandie said the farm was his sole source of livelihood.

Ayatia sub location assistant chief Stanley Chepcheng confirmed the incident saying the situation is worsening every day.

“Even pupils are no longer at ease walking to school for fear of being attacked by the aggressive elephants,” he said.

The jumbos mostly invade Chesangich, Kuikui, Yaybei, Koiser, Ayatia, Seron, Kaptigit, Chesawany, Cheptargok, Tawelwak and Chepkorony.

Baringo KWS Senior Warden Dickson Too said he is aware of the residents complains and has assigned officers to conduct a survey on the ground.
