United States President Joe Biden has congratulated President-elect William Ruto following the Supreme Court ruling which upheld his win in the August 9 general elections.
Biden through Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre commended Kenyans maintaining peace during the entire electioneering period.
“We congratulate William Ruto on his election as president of Kenya. We also congratulate the people of Kenya on the conclusion of a peaceful electoral process.”
“We commend Raila Odinga for abiding by the Supreme Court ruling; transparent electoral processes and the peaceful adjudication of disputes are testaments to the strength of democratic institutions.” The White House press secretary said
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Ruto heald talks with Qatar Ambassador to Kenya Jabor bin Ali Hussein Al-Hawashlah Al-Dosari to discuss various issues of key interest to the two nations.
“Held talks with Qatar Ambassador to Kenya Jabor bin Ali Hussein Al-Hawashlah Al-Dosari and agreed on greater partnership in housing, agriculture and petroleum products.” Ruto said
The President-elect also received a goodwill message from Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through High Commissioner to Kenya Damptey Bediako Asare, Karen, Nairobi.
Ruto is set to be sworn in on 13th September, 2022 in a ceremony which will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
