Inspector of Police Emmanuel Tamooh who won the hearts of Kenyans during the DusitD2 rescue mission is in the headlines once again.
On Tuesday, Tamooh in yet another gesture of kindness handed over Sh56,000 to Boniface Murage who attempted to smuggle his child out of Kenyatta National Hospital to avoid paying medical expenses.
Tamooh said he decided to give out the money to the father after realising that Governor Mike Sonko had already cleared the bill.
“I was at home and when I saw what happened I was moved. People shouldn’t think ill of what we did because he was wrong and he should have been jailed. But we are happy with the judge’s ruling,” said Tamooh.
Tamooh who is attached to Kangemi Administration Police camp continued, “On humanitarian grounds, maybe he did that because he didn’t have money, so when his story moved me, I decided to sacrifice my few months salary to settle the bill or give him the money for use.”
Murage was on Tuesday freed on a three-month suspended sentence.
That means he is free but should not commit any offence in the three months or he will serve the sentence.
Sonko has promised to offer him employment to help his family.
