Police are holding one suspect in connection with the murder of Embu Governor Martin Wambora’s bodyguard.
Christopher Njue is said to have been beaten to death by suspected boda boda operators over a fare dispute.
Confirming the incident, Embu county commissioner Esther Maina said investigations are currently underway and the police have launched a man hunt for other suspects who have since gone into hiding.
Njue is said to have met his death on Christmas eve after a fight broke out between him and a group of boda boda operators in Kithimu Embu County.

He was rushed to the Embu Level 5 Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Embu Regional AP Commandant Joseph Keittany who spoke to KBC on phone said the late Njue who is an Embu county government enforcement officer but enlisted to Governor Wambora’s security detail had allegedly disagreed with the boda boda operators over fare before a fight ensued.
He said the deceased had gone to celebrate with his friends and was heading back to Embu town at 2:00am from Kithimu when the incident occurred.
Administration Police officers from Kithimu chief’s camp who were on patrol intervened and rescued Njue before rushing him to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police are holding one suspect in connection with the gruesome murder as they search for the other suspects.
Tension remains high in the area as boda boda operators are said to have kept off the roads for fear of arrest over the murder.
