‘Bring my passport!’ Last moments of Papa Dennis alive before he jumped

Gospel musician Papa Dennis may have been suffering from depression due to financial problems, a relative, friend and caretaker have said.

Neighbours and the caretaker of the house where he lived told the Star the “Nashukuru’ hitmaker moved into the studio – where he was found dead on Saturday – on Thursday night with a mattress and blanket.

“His former landlord had locked him out of his Jamhuri estate house and the couple, who had housed him briefly, was violent to him. That is when Mjukuu, the owner of the studio at Kirima House on Thika road, asked him to stay in the studio to rehabilitate him,” a close relative told the Star.

Papa Dennis was reported to be having issues with his girlfriend of two years who acts in a local television series.

“On Friday at 11am Papa Dennis called Mjukuu and told him that people were fighting in the house that hosts the studio,” the caretaker told the Star.

“The owner of the studio called me and when I knocked at his door to find out what was happening, Papa opened the door himself.”

The caretaker said he picked his phone and left on a motorbike heading towards the Muthaiga side of Thika Road.

Papa Dennis returned later and was joined by his twin brother Simon Mwangi and a producer for a music recording session at the same studio.

“He had called his brother to bring him his passport. We are not sure where he wanted to go,” a friend told the Star.

“He then picked his phone and a charger in the middle of the session and left, telling his brother and the producer that they were giving him a hard time.”

The caretaker on Friday night was informed by the tenants on the left side of the building (Thika roadside) that someone had jumped from the fourth floor.

“I informed the brother, studio owner and manager that one of their friends had jumped from the fourth floor,” the caretaker told the Star.

“We are not even sure how he accessed the extreme side of the building since all the gates were closed. The other option would be going through someone’s house or using the roof, which is very hard,” the caretaker said.

As you learn to embrace healthy eating, your kids shouldn’t be left out too. It’s a parent’s duty to ensure they are eating healthy. Let’s be honest, kids aren’t always fans of vegetables, fruits and other healthier food options. But you can always use certain techniques to help them embrace healthy foods.

Here is how

  1. Set an example

It’s impossible to convince your children to eat healthy when you’re not doing so yourself. Monkey see, monkey do. Children get their habits from parents and this shapes their attitudes about certain foods.

If you’re used to skipping the veggies during meals, don’t expect them to be excited about eating them either. But if you embrace them and change your diet, they’ll be more motivated.

  1. Start early

Kids will be more resistant to change when they’re already used to eating unhealthy foods for a long time. We’ve heard the saying that old habits die hard, and this is especially true when you’re already hooked on unhealthy foods. Owing to this, you should always start nurturing healthy eating habits before it’s too late.

  1. Don’t stock up on unhealthy snacks

Keeping unhealthy snacks in your house will make it harder for your kids to keep up. They’ll be tempted to eat chocolate bars, cakes, artificial juices or any other unhealthy snacks. Instead, you should trade those in for healthier snacking options like fresh fruit juice, peanuts, dark chocolate, dried fruits and other nutritious snacks.

  1. Be strict with them

Believe it or not, your kids can manipulate you to get what they want. They might fuss and get sad when you refuse to take them to KFC for the third Sunday in a row but you have to create an emotional barrier so that they won’t manipulate you. They’ll be sad for a while but trust me, they’ll thank you later.

  1. Learn some tasty recipes

Healthy eating doesn’t always have to be boring. You can simply learn some wonderful recipes to make healthy foods taste better. This will encourage you and your kids to love healthy meals and ditch those unhealthy ones which don’t have any real benefits for the body. Research on vegetable recipes, healthy smoothies and get creative when it comes to meals.

  1. Get their input

Involving your kids when shopping, trying new recipes and preparing meals is always a great way to make them embrace healthy eating. Ask them what vegetables they’d like to eat or what new preparation method you should try so as to encourage them. They’ll definitely be more interested in eating what they helped pick out or prepare.

  1. Let them have a cheat meal once in a while

You shouldn’t be too rigid with your kids when it comes to healthy eating. Even the best health and fitness gurus allow themselves to have a cheat meal every now and then as a reward for all their effort. Cheat meals are important because they’ll kill the urge to binge eat unhealthy meals.

Annoying habits of Kenyan women on the streets

Kenyans have a long way to go when it comes to matters fashion. While we have made strides, we still have a long way to go especially in Nairobi.

There are some fashion statements one sees in the streets and feels like whipping the subject involved.

Below are habits that Kenyans especially women should change.

1. Showing the bu*t crack/Muffin top 

This wardrobe malfunction is a no-no. Invest in a belt, a tank top to layer with your short t-shirt and even a perfectly fitting trouser.

Whether your behind is robust or not, flashing bu*t crack is simply an eye sore.

The same goes when you are choosing what top to wear, chose on that fits, to avoid showing off our muffin tops also known as matyre.

2. Wearing leggings with a short dress

Dear ladies there is a difference between stockings and leggings also known as tights.

Many ladies spoil their looks by wearing tights instead of stocking thus ending up looking like a scare crow.

When buying something to go along with your dress insist on stockings.

3. Wearing bikers

Walking in the streets we have seen people wearing bikers that are longer than their dresses, how annoying that is.

Wearing a biker beneath your clothes is not wrong but unwritten rules mandate that it should not be seem under the hem of your dress.

4. Wearing shoes you cannot walk in

It is ridiculous to wear heels if you know you will be walking all day and it beats logic if you cannot walk in them.

The Nairobi streets do not even favor the shoes and you will often spot women duck walking after wearing heels they cannot walk in.

If you need to wear heels invest in a comfortable pair and please always carry an extra pair of flats just in case your feet give way.

It is also very unattractive to see a woman walking barefoot while carrying her heels.

5. Ill-fitting bras

Not once or twice have we come across ladies whose bras are showing behind their backs.

Some ladies also wear bras that are smaller than their chests thus they end up looking like they are out of air.

Some also wearing big bras and have to constantly collect their boobs from the floor whenever they bend.

6. Panty lines

Although to some it may be arousing, there is nothing as annoying as seeing a woman whose inner wears keeps popping out of her skirts or trousers.

Also there are ladies who do not how to chose what pants to wear with what dress.

The best way to avoid pant line is by buying seamless pants. They are comfortable and very convenient.

7 Wearing the wrong dresses for your body type

Choosing a dress that fits your body types goes a long way in boosting your image.

Time and time again we have seen plus size women trying to fit in dresses meant for people of a smaller size.

Some end up looking like a millipede.

Drama after Rue and Vesha’s birthday surprise to Akothee fails (VIDEO)

When we talk anything Akothee, best believe it has to be something dramatic. To her normal is boring.

Today, the madam boss turns a year older and because there is nothing much you can do in these Coronavirus times, her daughters got her two cupcakes and lit a candle for her to blow.

As early as 7:50 am, the family was awake and singing to Akothee at their balcony. We know Akothee goes hard or goes home and so seeing this small gesture was not something she can’t relate to.

The girls urged her to sit down saying there is a bigger surprise for her. Akothee adhered to the request and was left with Vesha who was thanking her for being a good mother.

 

As she was blowing out the candles declaring her wishes in this new year, Rue came in and poured cold water on her.  Watch all the drama that took place below:

The previous day,  Akothee together with members of her foundation donated foodstuff and clothes to Elizabeth Akinyi, a woman kicked out of her home by a cruel landlord, and her plight highlighted online.
