A Kilifi based businessman is demanding payment of KSh 1.5 million for supplies of construction materials made to Dolphin Hotel in Mombasa associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
James Muchemi Munene says his attempts to get paid since August 2018 have been unsuccessful.
Munene says he supplied construction materials for the construction of the beach hotel but is being frustrated once he seeks payment.
The hotel is being constructed on a 10-acre parcel in Shanzu area of Mombasa at an estimated cost of Ksh 600 million.

The construction has been going on for three years now with Munene saying “payment for the materials was to be made by Jubilee party coast region coordinator Farid Swaleh who is in charge of the suppliers.”
“I now appeal directly to the DP to intervene since the unpaid bills are threatening to cripple my business.” He said.
Munene said several attempts to reach Swaleh were unsuccessful as all his mobile phones are perpetually switched off.
“This is unfair some banks are on my neck because I can’t service the loans I took to procure the materials.” He said
The distraught businessman said he traveled to Nairobi several times and visited Weston Hotel associated with the DP with promises that the debts would be settled but nothing has come out of it.
He said with the economic crisis brought about by the coronavirus pandemic life has become unbearable adding that he has tried to secure an appointment with the DP to no avail.
