CBK governor Patrick Njoroge reappointed for another 4-year term ▷ Kenya News

– Njoroge who became CBK governor in 2015 was expected to exit office in June 2019

– His deputy Sheila M’Mbijjewe’s tenure was also extended by four years

– This comes days after the banking sector regulator launched transition from old to new generation notes

Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) boss Patrick Njoroge’s tenure has been extended by another four years, a few days after the governor launched new Kenyan currency notes.

The governor who was expected to exit office in June 2019 upon expiry of his four year term will remain at the helm until 2022.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 6, President Uhuru Kenyatta also extended by four years the tenure of CBK’s deputy governor Sheila M’Mbijjewe who was expected to leave office alongside her boss.

Njoroge took over from Njuguna Ndung’u on June 19, 2015, becoming the ninth governor of the CBK since the institution was established in 1966.
