Citizen TV will broadcast the much anticipated INEOS 1:59, the last barrier of modern athletics this weekend.

Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge will attempt to run the first sub-two-hour marathon in Vienna.

“I am very excited to be here in Vienna. I have now seen the course for the first time and it looked great. I can’t wait to run on it and hopefully I will see you all there this weekend,” he said as quoted by INEOS 1:59 on Twitter.

On Tuesday, Kipchoge was spotted with several pacemakers on their first run on the INEOS 1:59 course.

Pictures of the marathoner showed him preparing for the historic run.

As Kipchoge gears up for the INEOS 1:59 challenge, Kenyans continue to root for him, taking to social media to post messages of goodwill.

Kenyan professional footballer Victor Wanyama who plays as a defensive midfielder for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and captains the Kenyan national team said:

Let me take this earliest opportunity to wish my friend and countryman Eliud Kipchoge the best in the INEOS 1:59 in Vienna Austria this weekend. I believe you in your capability will run that marathon in 1:59 bro.”

On Monday evening, when Kipchoge was about to leave country aboard a private jet, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority broadcasted a message through the intercom.

The Director General KCAA is reported to have requested Air Traffic Control to salute Kipchoge.

The audio below captured what the marathoner heard:
