Chief Justice David Maraga has been  discharged from Nairobi Hospital following an accident in Nakuru on Saturday.

 

Maraga was flown to Nairobi after the accident that left him with minor injuries.

 

He was discharged after undergoing close observation from specialists following a road accident in Ngata area in Nakuru, the chief justice was given a clean bill of health and allowed to leave Nairobi Hospital on Saturday evening.

 

The Chief Justice was in the company of his wife and was heading to a church service at the time of the accident.

She will however remain in hospital but Doctors say she is in stable condition and will be discharged soon.

 

According to Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Mongo Chimwanga who visited the chief justice at the hospital the couple was travelling to attend a church service at Ngata in Nakuru County Saturday morning when the accident occurred.

He said the mishap occurred as a result of an impact after a private car rammed into the CJ’S official car from behind.

The driver of the personal vehicle that hit the CJ’s official car was taken to Nakuru Level Five hospital for treatment.

Chimwanga confirmed that Maraga’s driver escaped unhurt as their vehicle appeared to have been hit from behind.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier directed the military to airlift the couple to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

Through his official twitter account, the Chief Justice confirmed their condition in a tweet: “My wife and I were involved in an accident in Nakuru this morning on our way to church. We are undergoing medical observation. My driver and aide who were with us are also okay. We thank God for His mercies. Thank you Kenyans for your prayers and concern.”

Nakuru Town West Member of Parliament Samuel Arama and other local leaders visited the Chief Justice in hospital.
