Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has condemned the government of President William Ruto for frustrating his elder son Jomo Kenyatta and his mother.

In a live address to the press from his son’s home in Karen on Friday, Mr Kenyatta said the government was intimidating his family day and night for no apparent reason.

He challenged the government to go and arrest him if they have anything to do with him.

According to Mr Kenyatta, his mother’s security has been withdrawn with malicious intent, and claims that the snoopers have turned up at his son’s house are raising eyebrows.

“If anyone wants me, the fact that I am silent does not mean that I am afraid. Come and get me. What has my mother got to do with it? What do my children have to do with it?

The former head of state, who looked angry at the ongoing situation, said he had nothing to do with the ongoing demonstrations led by the Azimio leader, Mr Raila Odinga.

“I ignored it because I wondered how. What does the issue that Kenyans are talking about have to do with me? Have you seen me at these events? Have you seen me speaking about these events?  Now you are saying that because of my association with Raila, I should not talk to my friends? Is that a crime in Kenya today?

According to Mr Kenyatta, some unidentified people in a Sudanese-registered vehicle approached his son in the evening and said they were there to search his house.

He said that when his son informed him of the incident, he asked him not to open the gate until he arrived.
