The directors of a company whom DPP Noordin Haji wants arrested and charged for money laundering are suspects in the loss of Sh1.1 billion at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Web Tribe Limited, which trades as Jambo Pay, and its directors Danson Njunji and Robert Muna find themselves in an familiar territory after it was mentioned in the investigation into the NHIF corruption scandal.
The company was hired to collect revenue on behalf of the health insurer and its managing duo was on December 10, 2018 charged with fraudulent acquisition of public property in relation to their dealing with the NHIF. They denied the charges and were released on a Sh3 million bond or Sh2 million cash bails.
Another of the companies named yesterday by Haji — Toddy Civil Engineering Limited — currently has active contracts with the government worth a few million shillings shy of a billion for infrastructure projects in Thika, Meru and the Coast.
The company’s directors are Anthony Ng’ang’a and Rose Ng’ang’a.
The biggest of those projects is the contract for the construction of sewerage infrastructure in Meru town, which it was awarded by Tana Water Services Board in November 2018 and will cost Sh874 million.

In Thika, the company has won the Sh49 million contract by Kiambu County for the construction of a storm water drainage system at Landless in Thika town, while in Tana River County it won the contract for the desiltation of Kitere-Mnazini Canal (Section 3) in 2018. The contract was valued at Sh12 million.
The company is mentioned alongside sister company Hardi Enterprises Limited, which was paid Sh357 million between October 11, 2018, and March 13, 2019 by the county government for a garbage collection contract.
