Congolese are mourning the death of Rhumba legend Tshala Muana.
The Rhumba singer, real name Élisabeth Tshala Muana Muidikayi, died on Saturday December 10, 2022 at 64.
Muana’s husband, Claude Mashala, confirmed the news of her death via social media. However, he did not give details about her cause of her demise.
“In the wee hours of the morning, the good Lord has decided to take over the national mamu Tshala muana, May the good n God be glorified for all the good times she has brought us to this earth. Goodbye Mamu from me,” he wrote.
Muana is considered the “Queen of Mutuashi”, a traditional music and dance from her native Kasai region.
She was widely known for her songs such as Malu, Karibu Yangu, and Tshianza.
