The Council of Governors has assured Kenyans that county governments have put in place aggressive measures to ensure that Kenyans access food and water during this drought season.
Council of Governors Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya said counties have distributed to the affected households a total of 11,740 bags of maize, 1,500 bags of beans and 8,896 bags of rice.
He noted that affected county governments have mobilized water boursers to distribute water to residents in the most affected sub counties, noting that 290,518 bales of animal feed have been procured and distributed in the affected areas including immunization of 241,938 children.
Oparanya said county governments have prioritized food security in their County Integrated Development Plans reiterating that counties have in the last six years progressively increased budgetary allocations to the agriculture sector.

He said is the responsibility of both levels of government to guarantee the right of every Kenyan to have adequate food of acceptable quality.
