The number of Covid-19 cases in the country has increased to 2,767 after 167 tested positive from 2,833 samples in the last 24 hours.
Giving the Health ministry’s daily update on new infections on Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that the new cases comprise 125 male and 42 females.
Mr Kagwe noted, however, that Kenya had discharged 46 patients. This raised the country’s total number of recoveries to 752.
On a sad note, he said that one more patient had died, raising Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll to 84.
He said that the government’s position regarding the opening of bars and sale of alcohol remained the same.
“Opening of bars and sale of alcohol remain banned, those who the flout rules will have licences revoked,” Mr Kagwe said.
The CS said thanked those in Nyumba Kumi, especially those in rural areas who report new entrants from the virus epicentre into their regions.
