CS Murkomen, Kura boss Kinoti meet Fujian Province governor – Weekly Citizen

KURA director general Eng. Silas Kinoti was significantly present during a high powered meeting between Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen and visiting governor of Fujian Province , honourable Zhao Long.

The Fujian Province governor had paid a courtesy call to the CS .

For starters, Fijian Province is the home of China Wu Yi Construction Co., a household name in road construction in Kenya.

The strategic Friday morning meeting also attended by Roads Ps Eng. Joseph Mbugua among other dignitaries discussed several areas of infrastructure developed partnerships including development of expressways using the PPP model.

The CS acknowledged the immense support that China, through its Government and contractors, has extended to Kenya in the development of the country’s infrastructure network including roads, rail, and Ports.

Murkomen affirmed the Government’s willingness to work with the Chinese Government and investors in the implementation of key projects, through Public-Private Partnerships, among them the construction of new berths at the Ports of Mombasa and Lamu, construction of a new terminal and runway at JKIA, expansion of airstrips across the country, extension of SGR from Suswa to Malaba, and the dualling of major roads and highways.

Governor Long hailed the harmonious relationship between Kenya and China dating back to 1963, and the collaborative engagements in infrastructure development.

He expressed his readiness to work with Kenya, through Government to Government engagements and partnerships with Chinese investment groups to support Kenya’s economic growth.i

It’s imperative to note that Kinoti’s name is synonymous with the construction of roads in major towns in Kenya, and he has been instrumental in achieving about 90 percent of the objectives set by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA)

Players in the road sector recognize the KURA boss as a guru in road construction, as he has changed the narrative in engineering.

As a distinguished member of the Institution of Engineers (IEK) for the past 20 years, Kinoti has made significant contributions to the field.

He is a seasoned engineer with vast experience in Management of Urban Roads, particularly Urban Roads Planning and Management, Innovations in Urban Road Management and Financing, Urban Mobility and Non-Motorized Transport Systems and Project Planning & Management.
