NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20-The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has completed investigations into the death of Jeff Mwathi who died on February 22 in unclear circumstances.

This is after the Homicide department handling the case received an autopsy report from the government Pathologist and the government chemist, following a fresh probe into the death as ordered by the DCI Director, Mohamed Amin.

“The file is now complete and has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions this evening(Wednesday)for perusal and advice, ”the DCI said.

Since Mwathi’a death two months ago, no suspect  been arrested.

On April 1, it was revealed that the family of interior designer, Mwathi will have to wait for another three months to know the exact cause of his death.

This is after a second post mortem failed to deliver a conclusive cause of his death.

Investigators from the DCI who included a team from homicide unit exhumed Mwathi’s body in Likia area of Njoro Sub-County, Nakuru early this month for a second exhumation.

Chief Government pathologist, Johansen Oduor said just like the first autopsy, he found that Mwathi died of very severe injuries to the head, neck and limbs which needed to be investigated.

He said the factures on the head were very severe that they up to the base of the skull and almost raptured it.

However, the pathologist said they had taken more samples, specifically anal swabs for DNA teating to investigate whether Mwathi was sexually abused before his death.

“The main reason of the exhumation and the second autopsy was to find out if Mwathi was sodomised as it is being alleged in many social circles,” h said.

Oduor added other samples also taken to the Government Chemist for toxicology analysis to find out whether there were some toxins or other drugs involved.

“When all these results come from the laboratory, a team will analyse and come up with a conclusive report,” he said.

The pathologist said his team also measured the width of Mwathi’s chest to give it to the police to be compared with the size of the window that he was said to have jumped through.

“Investigator have already visited the scene of death and need the measurements to compare,” he said.

Mwathi died on February 22 at the home of DJ Fatxo at Redwood Apartments in Kasarani in what was initially said to be suicide.

The death led to a public outcry that forced the government to order further investigations.
