The police have rescued 14 underage girls suspected to be victims of human trafficking at Gikomba in Nairobi.
A statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has revealed that its officers dealing with children’s safety acted swiftly, rescuing the girls who are believed to be from the neighbouring country, Uganda.
It states: “14 Victims of suspected human trafficking, believed to be Ugandan nationals, were today rescued from Gikomba area by the detectives from Child DCI.”
Detectives further add that the young girls are believed to have been lined up for child labour. However, the suspects behind the suspected human trafficking are yet to be arrested. The officers have said that the victims have been taken to a safer place as investigation continues.
