Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has lashed out at a section of legislators accusing them of using the alleged assassination plot against Deputy President William Ruto for political mileage.
In an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital, a seemingly irate Munya accused the MPs whom he did not name, of threatening to impeach him branding them as “immature”.
Siasa ya Kenya iko na utoto mwingi na watoto wamejaa huko Bunge…” said Munya. (Politics in Kenya is very immature and juveniles are full in Parliament.) “Those are Empty threats that are intended to poison the atmosphere of our politics and make it difficult to serve wananchi.”
Munya’s sentiments come a day after he was summoned to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters over the alleged plot to kill DP Ruto.
On the Dr. Ruto assassination allegations, also rubbished the claims saying;
“Kama kuna mpango kama huo statement ingekua huko na inaodhoresha vizuri huo mpango, ni njia gani itatumika kumuua na atauawa namna gani… mtu ako na security ya kutosha, ofisi yake iko karibu na police station so Cabinet Secretaries wako na one bodyguard wanaweza kumuua namna gani? Ni siasa mbaya…” he added.
(If there was such a plan, a statement detailing the plan would have been out; how is going to be assassinated, by who… someone who has such heavy security his office is almost like a police station is going to be killed by Cabinet Secretaries who have one bodyguard each? That is just bad politics.)
Munya was among four Cabinet Secretaries – Peter Munya (Trade), Joseph Mucheru (ICT), and Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) – summoned by DCI boss George Kinoti who confirmed having received concerns from DP Ruto citing that his life is in danger.
