After a dismal performance at the world rugby sevens season opener the Hong Kong 7s, Kenya’s National 7s Team Shujaa have put preparations in top gear ahead of the upcoming Dubai 7s in December.
The team that boasted of a hybrid Squad of novice and experienced players is currently placed 15th overall after the opening round of the season in Hong Kong where they collected 1 point after exiting at the 13th place semifinal stage.
George “Japolo” Ooro and Dennis Abukuse had their debuts as Shujaa begin their 2022/23 Sevens World Series campaign in Japan.
The duo were standouts for their respective clubs during this season’s National Sevens Circuit and have been included in the 13-man team to the far east named by Head Coach Damian McGrath.
The schedule for Dubai sevens has been confirmed Shujaa will begin their campaign at the Dubai Sevens with a clash against series leaders and defending champions Australia, before taking on South Africa and Great Britain in their subsequent Pool A fixtures on Friday 2 December 2022.
The match against Australia will kick off at 10.56am EAT, paving way for the match against South Africa at 2.20pm EAT. They will close out their day one fixtures against Great Britain at 7.18pm EAT.
