An artist who impersonated the Deputy President by creating a fakebook account has been slapped with a fine of Ksh 50000 or jail term of 7 seven months
Collins Kipleting was handed the conviction on his own plea of guilty by Milimani Law Courts seniors principal magistrate Esther Kimilu.
The artist in a show of remorse apologised to the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua then pleaded with the top most authority in the country to secure him any job
“Your honour,I created the fake facebook book account in the name of his Excellency Hon Rigathi Gachagua, to look for views and like for my songs whos links are available for viewing.” Collins pleaded.
Collins also told court he dropped college where he was taking a course in Information and Technology.
He pleaded for leniency saying that he resorted to do his artistic job to erke a living.
Collins further pleaded to pardoned and given a second chance in life to shape his career.
The prosecution asked the court to treat the accused as first time offender.
In passing sentence Ms Kimilu said the apology of the convict is accepted and warned him not to impersonate senior government officials to erke a living.
She proceeded to impose a fine of ksh 50000 or serve seven months in jail.
Collins was charged with personation contrary to section 382(I) of the penal code.
The prosecution accused conllins of representing himself as Mr Rigathi Gachagua November and December 6th with an intention to defraud unsuspecting members of public.
