Sir Alex Ferguson will make a return to Old Trafford on Saturday evening to watch his beloved Manchester United for the first time since he suffered a life-threatening brain hemorrhage in May.

The club’s legendary former manager has made remarkable progress in his recovery and will take up what had become his customary seat in the director’s box as Jose Mourinho’s side aim to make it four wins in succession against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The English club made the announcement ahead of the league match which kicks off at 5pm (Kenyan time).

Earlier this week, Ferguson sent a heartfelt message to Paul Scholes in only his second public appearance since his illness.

The Association of Former Manchester United Players paid special tribute to Scholes on their 33rd annual charity sportsman’s dinner in what was a celebration of the midfielder’s 22-year association with the club.

Scholes made 718 appearances for the Red Devils, winning 11 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues titles in that time, and Ferguson was among the many speakers who thanked the ex-England man for his services.

While the 76-year-old was unable to attend the event in person, he recorded a personal message for Scholes, hailing his former player as one of Old Trafford’s all-time greats.

Ferguson is the most successful British manager ever, winning 13 league titles, two Uefa Champions League titles and five FA Cups during his 27-year stint at Old Trafford.
