Trading on Monday at the Nairobi Securities Exchange saw a 29% decline in volume and 6% decline in turnover to Ksh. 656.4 Million compared to Friday’s Ksh. 706.7 Million. Foreign investor participation stood at 66.2% a slight increase from Friday’s 63.9%
Top Mover of the day was Safaricom with a volume of 14,866,900 with 62.1% of this being foreign investor participation. Safaricom closed the day at 29.90. KCB Group saw a volume of 2,311,000 shares traded with an 86.5% foreign investor participation. Britam Holdings had a volume of over 1.8 million shares traded with no foreign Investor activity closing the day at Ksh. 6.84, a 5.23% share price appreciation from Friday’s close of Ksh. 6.50
Kapchorua Tea Company Plc was the top gainers of the day with a 9.72% share price appreciation to close at Ksh. 79.00 per share. TPS Eastern Africa and Unga Group close the top 3 gainers with 9.6% and 9.5% end of day share price appreciation. All three companies however had a volume of only 100 shares traded. Kenya Airways was another gainer of the day with an end of day share price appreciation of 9.4% with 49,400 shares traded.
Top losers of the day was Sanlam with an end of day share price depreciation of 6.3% closing the day at Ksh.15.00 per share with only 3700 shares traded. Bank of Kigali saw a share price depreciation of 5.3% closing the day at Ksh. 18.00 per share with 1,849,100 shares traded and a 98.6% foreign investor participation.
The NSE all share index gained 1.56 points to close at 140.74 compared to Friday’s 139.18. The NSE 20 share index gained 28.83 points to close at 1968.42 while the NSE 25 share index gained 41.79 points to close at 3242.50
The Derivatives Market had 13 contracts traded worth Ksh. 365,300. 8 KCB contracts expiring on 17th September 2020 were concluded at a price of Ksh. 34.50 against an end of day price of Ksh. 35.20. The bond market had bonds worth Ksh. 2.4 Million traded. The New Gold ETF(Exchange Traded Fund) moved 4100 units valued at Ksh. 7 Million and closed at Ksh. 1,700.00
