A 51-year-old woman is nursing serious injuries at Mwea Mission Hospital after her husband attacked her with a panga.
The suspect, Henry Kamande, is reported to have committed the act at Kamweli village in Makutano, Mwea after returning home from prison.
He had was served four years at Mwea Mission Prison for attacking another woman with an arrow.
When he returned home, Kamande is reported to have demanded money, proceeds from the sale of tomatoes from the family farm.
Angela Wamaitha, a teacher at Gitune primary school, was rescued by her son who then rushed her to hospital.
According to 26-year-old Paul Waruri, the father also threatened him not to ever step foot on their farm saying he would kill them.
Ann Njeri, a friend to the victim, further told Citizen Digital that this is the second time that Kamande had attacked his wife.
Doctors at Mwea Hospital said the woman is in stable condition.
