Former TV comedian and ODM party nominated Councillor George Mwangangi popularly known as Mwongolo was on Monday charged with obtaining money under false pretenses.
Appearing before Nairobi Magistrate Martha Mutuku, Mwongolo was charged that on January 31, 2019, with intent to defraud, he obtained Ksh.500,000 from James Masinde Wanyonyi by claiming he was in a position to lease out to him an advertising space for one year.
At the time of the alleged offence, Mwongolo was working for Wakati Limited.
Appearing before Nairobi Magistrate Martha Mutuku, the former TV comedian pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was released on a cash bail of Ksh 200,000 or an alternative of Ksh.300,000 bond.
The case will be heard on September 26, 2019.
