Four people were killed in a landslide in Marakwet East on Friday, with over 5000 families displaced in Lodwar town after their homes were destroyed by floods.
This follows heavy rains that continue to pound most parts of the country.
Transport between Lodwar and Kitale has been since paralysed after River Kawalasee burst its banks.
Transport in most parts of the Coastal counties has also been cut following heavy rains within the region.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa now wants county governments to set up emergency funds to deal with disasters occasioned by floods
Speaking during the official launch of Jumla market in Konbani, Kwale County, CS Wamalwa appealed to county governments to set aside 2% of their budget to deal with crisis such as floods.
Five counties among them Tana River, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera have so far been affected by floods.
On his part, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya indicated that his administration has already set aside Ksh.70 million to deal with floods relates issues.
Among the areas that have already been affected in Kwale are Vanga, Vumbu, Miembeni and some parts of Matuga.
