Gebeya, an Ethiopian ICT talent center is set to launch in Senegal and expand across the Francophone Africa region which has remained an untapped region for Africa’s tech talent development.
According to CEO and co-founder of Gebeya, Amadou Daffe: “Senegal is the ideal landscape for tech companies as it is home to numerous hubs dedicated to tech advancements. The majority of the population is under the age of 25, which signifies energy and capacity to thrive in the economy,”
Gebeya trains, hires and cultivates top talented African Software Engineers in fields of study such as AI, AgriTech, Blockchain, FinTech, Internet of Things, Media Production, Telecom, and Gaming.
The firm is providing specialized industry-specific training in software engineering, design, and digital and as well as supporting the vision and potential of Africans. Once its trainees complete the training program, Gebeya sets them up on its Marketplace section to match them with jobs from clients across the globe in a similar manner like Andela and Moringa School do in Nigeria and Kenya respectfully.
In May this year, Gebeya says it graduated 35 trainees from its fourth graduation class which later inspired it to launch Blockchain technology courses in the country in partnershiwp with the Swedish Initiative United in Tech (UNITECH). Senegal was the first location for Coders4Africa (C4A), which Daffe was co-founded and he, therefore, has high hopes that its impact will be huge.
