Names have very special meanings. Also the naming of children in traditional African society is very important. Though it varies from one community to another, we still practice it.
In the African society, children were named after seasons, events, passing on of great people and even after their grandparents or great, great grandparents and this practice is still continuing.

Well, just like any other Kenyan tribe, the Agikuyu community still practice this. I stumbled upon this long list of Kikuyu male names and their meanings but I’m not sure if its true.
