Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has been named the Coach of the Month for the month of February and was feted during his team’s early morning training session Thursday at Camp Toyoyo stadium in Nairobi.

Oktay beat stiff competition from Sofapaka’s John Baraza and Posta Rangers’ John Kamau to bag the award.

The Turkish national led K’Ogalo to four wins and a draw in a hectic month for the team which played eight fixtures in total in all competitions. He also led the side to qualify to the last eight in the CAF Confederation Cup fixture where they will face RS Berkane of Morocco next month at Kasarani stadium in Nairobi City.

A total of ten European qualifying matches will be played this evening with Kazakhstan and Scotland opening proceedings at Astana stadium.

Graeme Shinnie is expected to stand in at left-back for Scotland after Kieran Tierney was ruled out of the 2020 qualifier.

Celtic’s Tierney, who had been due to move from central defense with captain Andy Robertson missing the trip to Astana, is out injured.

Shinnie has been playing in midfield for Aberdeen but previously played at club level at left-back.

Kazakhstan are without injured Yuri Logvinenko and Islam-khan. In some of the other matches, Croatia will host Azerbaijan; Belgium will play Russia while Belarus visit Netherlands.
