The County Government of Nakuru has embarked on decongesting bus terminus in major urban areas in the County to minimize transmission of corona virus.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui says the exercise will kick off Wednesday targets facilities in Nakuru, Molo, Naivasha, Njoro and Gilgil in an effort to minimize contact among people.
Speaking at the weekly news conference on COVID-19 preparedness in Nakuru, the Governor said a joint emergency and response committee on Corona virus disease in the County has begun to identify alternative places for more than 3,000 bus operators to drop their passengers in the various towns.
Kinyanjui said the committee has concluded consultative and awareness forums with representatives from public transport, markets leadership, civil society sectors and the local political leadership in a bid to effect the changes in the region that is home to more than two million people.

He also by decree stopped market days in the towns in the spirit of minimizing convergence of people at common points.
The County boss said part of the strategy is to redistribute small traders to various locations within Nakuru municipality with a view of scaling down hawking.
He said the County Government jointly with relevant authorities will de-register SACCOS of public service vehicle operators that will flout laid down control measures against the spread of COVID -19.
This comes amid intense outrage over exploitation by operators from travelers in the town.
Some operators failed to adhere to the stipulated carrying capacities while others attempted to cash in on the situation by doubling fares.
Nakuru County Commissioner Erastus Mbui reiterated that restaurants and bars will remain closed for the next two weeks as directed by the Government.
Mbui said eateries will operate albeit on stringent measures as people will not be allowed to purchase take-away.
The Commissioner said law enforcement officers are operating under cover and will rein on patrons and operators of bars for prosecution.
