Governor Okoth Obado’s romantic text messages to Sharon Otieno – Local – Pulselive.co.ke

It has now come to light that Migori Governor Okoth Obado used his private text messages with Sharon Otieno, the slain Rongo University student, to prove to detectives that he was not involved in the brutal murder.

A report by the Nation indicates that during the seven-hour grilling by DCI officers, Mr. Obado admitted being romantically involved with Ms. Otieno for the past one year.

The Migori County boss allegedly tried to paint an image of a flowery intimate relationship with the second year student.

The said messages revealed Mr. Obado and Sharon’s travel plans, meetings, items the Governor wanted to buy and discussion of the unborn child the 26-year was carrying.

Investigators have been going through phone call records and messages in a bid to unravel the people behind the cruel murder of Sharon.

Before she was killed, Sharon was abducted alongside Nation journalist Barrack Oduor who escaped death by a whisker.

Governor Obado has been mentioned adversely in this murder case as his personal assistant Micheal Oyamo, who was the last person in contact with Sharon and Mr. Oduor, was arrested.

At the same time, the text messages further disclosed that Obado had promised to purchase a house for Sharon. The medical student wanted a house Nairobi but the Governor said that it was too pricey and would prefer getting one in Migori County.

When Obado delayed fulfilling his promise a frustrated Sharon decided to copy the chats to Obado’s wife Hellen and son Daniel.

On Wednesday, Obado held his first press conference after the murder of Sharon to distance himself from the killing.

“As a law-abiding citizen, I want to state here that I have nothing, and absolutely nothing to do with the cruel death of Sharon,” he told journalists.
