A police officer is in custody after he allegedly struck a man with his gun butt in Kiambu county.
The victim, Moses Kimani said that he had been assaulted by an officer assigned to VIP protection of the General Service Unit, over the weekend in Karunga village.
Kimani informed the police that two males on motorcycles confronted him as he entered a nearby shopping center to purchase a cake.
He was struck in the mouth with the pistol’s muzzle and butt on the jaw by one of the men who later turned out to be the police officer.

The victim fled the scene of the incident after his assailant fired two rounds in the air.
After the Saturday afternoon incident, Kimani reported the matter to the nearby police station before being taken to the hospital.
The victim, according to the police, was bleeding at the time of the event. The GSU officer was later detained and stripped of his 13-bullet Jericho handgun.
The authorities stated that they were yet to determine the motive.
The unnamed cop will be processed before arraignment. Perminus Kioi, Kiambu police boss, stated they are looking into the matter.
