A delegation from the FBI led by Alvin Winston, Deputy Director for International Operations Division, Saturday paid a courtesy call on the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji.
The DPP and his guests discussed a wide range of issues geared towards deepening cooperation between the two institutions.
The DPP thanked the FBI for its support to the Criminal Justice Sector spanning years especially in matters counter terrorism, human rights, mutual legal assistance, children justice, anti-corruption proceeds of crime and asset recovery comparing country experiences and best practice.
The guests acknowledged the work done by the ODPP in enhancing access to justice and congratulated them for the conviction in the just concluded case involving Willie Kimani and others.

Willie Kimani case
After six years of anguish for the families of the slain lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri, justice was on Friday served.
Lady Justice Jessie Lesiit, in a 6,000-page ruling found four of the accused persons guilty of the murder in 2016.
The four found guilty are police officers Fredrick Leliman, Stephen Morogo, Sylvia Wanjohi and Informant Peter Ngugi.
Justice Lesiit detailed how evidence directly linked the four as principal offenders in the murder of the three.
Lesiit saying that the first accused Fredrick Leliman had a motive to kill the second deceased person Josephat Mwenda after he made a report against him at the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA0 for shooting him in the hand.

On the other hand, police officer Sylvia Wanjiku was classified as a principal offender as she knew that the three deceased persons were locked in the cells prior to their murder and failed to register them in the Occurence Book.
The 5th accused, Peter Ngugi was an informer and narrated how the murder was plotted and that he acted in common accord with the others.
The fourth accused Leonard Maina was however acquitted by the court.
However, Cliff Ombeta who represented Leliman in the case is dissatisfied with the ruling.
The four will remain in custody as they await the sentencing on September 3rd.
Meanwhile, the DPP attended the Heads of Prosecution Agencies Conference in London where they shared experiences and best practices.
They also discussed ways of strengthening International Cooperation in handling Transnational and Organized Crimes.
