Grammy award winning singer and actor Harry Edward Styles drunk beer from a shoe commonly referred to as ‘Shoey’ during his recent Australian tour.

It’s a common trend in Australia which saw the falling hitmaker remove one of his Adidas sneakers and drunk from it, though wet he still wore the same shoe as required by tradition.

“This is one of the most disgusting traditions I’ve ever heard of” said Harry before the more than 30,000 fans at the Perth stadium.

Soon the crowd fell into heavy chants of ‘shoey,shoey,shoey’

The Watermelon singer revealed to his fans that he felt like a different person noting that he would be sharing the experience with his therapist.

“I feel ashamed of myself, I’ll be discussing this with my therapist at length, at length” uttered Harry while shaking his head.

Harry Styles was making his return to Australia barely five years after his last visit.The celebrated singer cancelled his Aussie tour at the height of the covid -19 pandemic.

Harry Styles is not the first celebrity to undergo the ‘shoey tradition’.

Rappers Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly, Country music singer Kasey Musgraves, Actor Sir Patrick and Formula One Star Lewis Hamilton are some of the notable figures who had to perform the ‘shoey stunt’ during their Australian tours.

Overtime,there has been divided opinion on the ‘shoey’ with a section terming it a distasteful way of knowing Australia whereas some see it a connection of fun filled humor.

Origin Of ‘Shoey’

The Shoey can be traced back to 1800s in Germany,it was common to enjoy a drink from high heeled stilettos in merrymaking.

However it gained prominence in Australia by the year 2015 among car and motorcycle racers.

To date, it’s ritual to partake in ‘shoey’ at birthdays and other special occasions.
