Cloud9xp, Enfinite Solution, Coinbox, AfyaKit and Mobishule have been announced winners of the 2019 PIVOT East startup pitch competition held at iHub Nairobi on June 27th.
The startups won the entertainment, enterprise, utilities, social impact and finance categories respectfully.
Though Kenyan startups won all the categories, PIVOT East saw startups from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda pitch either virtually and physically to a panel of judges and investors at this year’s invite-only exclusive startup conference.
Cloud9xp from Kenya, is an online trips booking marketplace offering a simple way to discover and book leisure experiences to do across Africa while Enfinite Solutions suite of premium products – WakiliCMS and EliteSuite, help law firms and legal departments to run efficiently to minimize costs, increase profits and improve decision making criteria.
The utilities winner, Coinbox is a loyalty program allowing consumers to own Coinboxes in different brands and save for their holidays by sending whatever amount to their Coinbox until they clear the amount.
AfyaKit is a Kenyan startup with plans to improve health outcomes by use of data and analytics to enable decision making for health personnel.
The finance category was won by Mobishule, a mobile credit platform tailored for parents to enable them access and pay their kids school fees in advance and via instalments.
Apart from Cloud9xp, the entertainment category had UG Tickets as runner up. UG Tickets is an online ticketing platform selling, marketing, and distributing tickets for event organizers, promoters and vendors in music, football, festivals, conferences and talk-shows via web, email and SMS.
Kenya’s Vipimo was the runner up in the enterprise category. Vipimo is a SaaS sensor subscription service for customers in B2B space such as farms, freight forwarders etc.
Utilities category had Tanzainia’s Sheria Kiganjani as the runner up. The startup is an online legal digital platform in Tanzania helping users to access various legal services remotely.
The Social Impact Category saw Ecomakaa as its runner up. ‘Eco Makaa’ is an online briquette vendor connecting producers to clients.
Kenya’s WorkPay was the runner up in the Finance Category behind Mobilshule. As TechMoran reported, Work Pay is a workforce payment management system for Employee Time Tracking, Payroll Management and automated salary payouts/payments to banks and mobile wallets. The firm also provides salary advances to enable firms pay their employees in time.
