Your microwave is probably the most used appliance in your home. It’s the easiest shortcut to transforming cold leftovers into a steaming hot plate of food. Due to how often some of us use our microwaves, they can turn into a greasy, smelly mess.

Poor microwave care can expose you to fungus and bacteria, which are harmful to your health. Maintaining a clean microwave is not as hard as some may believe. For starters, using a microwave cover when you warm your food will prevent splashes and splatters of food from coating the inside of your appliance.
Additionally, cleaning each mess as they’re made will stop the build-up of a grimy mess. However, it’s still important to give your microwave a deep clean on a regular basis. Below are two easy, and cheap, ways to clean your microwave.
Lemons are so diverse and they’re great for household cleaning. They are nature’s very own organic, natural cleaners that are a fraction of the price of most household cleaners. Give your microwave a deep steam by cutting one lemon in half. After, place the halves in a glass bowl and pour one cup of water over them.
Thereafter, place the bowl into the microwave and heat it up for five minutes. When the timer stops, leave the bowl in the microwave with the door closed for a few minutes, then gently take it out with oven mitts.
The steam will loosen up any splatters and grease and all you’ll need to do is wipe the inside of the microwave with a cloth or paper towel. You can use the water from the same bowl to clean the outside of the microwave to give it a citrusy fresh scent from the inside-out.
The point of using a microwave cover is to stop any food splatters from coating the microwave walls, however, the turntable that’s right below the food can still get splatters of food on it. These food particles can dry up and become difficult to wash or wipe off.
To have an easier time cleaning your turntable, make a paste with some baking soda and water. Let it soak the turntable for about five minutes. After, scrub the turntable with a sponge, rinse it then dry it to reveal a sparkling, clean turntable.
