Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday celebrated his 48th birthday and he had a lot to reflect upon.

He went ahead to share throwback photos of himself as we struggling to make ends meet and was thankful for the progress he had made.

Sonko admitted that his life has had a number of rough patches but was grateful that he is still alive and standing tall.

“I have experienced both the good and difficult times. I am glad that, through the ups and downs, I am still standing tall. But in all, I am grateful to God that I am alive to testify of His goodness in all.

“Thank you God for granting me another year to my life. Lord, I pray for you to guide me, forgive me my sins and let me live my life happily. Divine love and mercy are all I ask you, my dear God. Happy birthday to me, myself, and I,” he wrote.

His wife Primrose Mbuvi also wished him blessings in his new age asking God to guide him and grant him good health.

His daughter Sandra Mbuvi was thankful for the things her dad had done for her, acknowledging that she has always felt loved.

“Daddy, you’ve given me so many invaluable things in life and I will always be grateful for them. May your special day bring you plenty of wonderful surprises!

“I am lucky that I was given the best father in the world, a father who truly loves me with all of his heart. Happy Birthday, dad!” she wrote.

Sonko has had a rather tumultuous political career and recently he reached out to President William Ruto to assist him in recovering some of his frozen bank accounts.

Speaking during the launch of the Nairobi Rivers Commission, Sonko said he was victimized by the previous regime and would want to get back his money.

“Gachagua’s money had been held unlawfully, it has been returned. We have seen people freed by courts. Kenyans prayed for me and the court freed me.

“I am ready to work with government, a lot of my money was held by Uhuru Kenyatta, help me to get it back like Rigathi Gachagua. So that I help government and youths,” he said.
