I want to win league title with Fortune Sacco FC

Timona Wanyonyi a fleet footed winger believes he can once again lift the  Kenyan Premier League crown with the newly promoted  Fortune Sacco FC.

Wanyonyi played an integral part as the Kirinyaga based team earned promotion to the 2022-2023 Kenyan Premier League season after four seasons in the second tier .

Fortune completed 36 rounds of the National Super League campaign in second place, 2 points adrift of champions APS Bomet who topped the season with 71 points.

Timona an experienced player who has won the KPL title on two occasions with Gor Mahia FC in 2013 and Tusker Fc three years later believes that despite a relatively  younger squad, the team has what it takes to give the established top tier clubs a run for their money in their debut campaign.

‘’Fortune Sacco is a younger team but with full of energy, its our first time in KPL but for me as a player who is experienced I will share my experience  which I believe could be critical to the teams achievement in the top tier league. Without this club I wouldn’t have my career roaring again,I want to give it all my best, I want to win the KPL title with this team’’, remarked Wanyonyi in an interview with KBC Digital Sports.

The winger  was discovered by Qatar based Aspire Academy  whom he went to spend four years  with between 2009-2013, honing his footballing skills, coming back to Kenya thereafter where he joined record 19-time KPL champions Gor Mahia in June 2013 to June 2014 before crossing over to sworn rivals AFC Leopards in a lucrative one year deal that was however short-lived.

‘’ÁFC Leopards signed me in a that ran into troubles after they paid me half of the agreed sign on fee and also the salaries stopped coming after the then club sponsor withdrew,the club was facing financial difficulties really’’, said Wanyonyi.

Wanyonyi won the the 2010 CECAFA U-17 championship with Kenya and played four times for the senior national soccer team Harambee Stars has also turned out for  defunct Nakumatt Fc and Sofapaka.

The 2022/23 Kenya Premier League season is is set to kick off in September with Fortune Sacco set to learn their debut top flight opponent in earnest.
