Kenyan gospel singer Peter Wangudi popularly known as Alpha Mwana Mtule narrated how he terrorised villages in Western Kenya,Webuye by stealing chicken and bananas in farms.
The kila siku singer made the revelation while on an online engagement with rapper king kaka on the ‘second chance ‘ podcast.
“Mimi kwanza nilikuwa dingo wa makuku,mandizi za watu hakuna ndizi yako ingekomaa kwa shamba niwache, nilikuwa napita hivi naiangalia fiti nairudia jioni it’s funny but hivyo ndivyo mimi nimeishi manze” He stated
The singer revealed that he committed the crimes due to lack of love from his family who never appreciated his hardwork.
“Nilikuwa nafanya hivyo kutokana na zile pressure nilikuwa napata home juu nilikuwa sioneshwi mapenzi kama mtoi but unapata mimi ndio nafanya kazi nyingi kulima nini…imeandikwa mtu anafanya kazi inafaa apendwe sasa mimi kwangu ilikuwa opposite so mimi nilikuwa nafanya kazi mob sana lakini kuna mapenzi tu flani nilikuwa nanyimwa” He explained
Adopted Child
Alpha Mwana Mtule doesn’t know his real parents,he was picked from the streets of Mombasa at one month old by his foster father,Constan Wangudi who adopted him as his child.
“Niliokotwa nikiwa mtoto Mombasa, nilikuwa one month budangu aliniokota alikuwa anaitwa Constan Wangudi yee ndio alinigawia hizi majina Alpha Mwana Mtule akanipea jina Peter Wangudi so mi sijawahi cheki madhe na sijawahi cheki buda sijui vile wanafanana lakini najua wale wazazi wageni kwa life yangu Mungu aliwaleta and I thank God for that manze ” He narrated
Life as an adopted child wasn’t a walk in the park, Alpha had to endure so many hurdles but he’s grateful to God for standing by his side.
“Nashukuru Mungu amekuwa akinipambania toka nikuwe mdogo juu nimeishi kwa step family vile hukuwanga si hivyo rahisi rahisi tu lakini Mungu amekuwa akinitetea mpaka saa hizi amenifikisha hapa ” He continued
Life As A Street Kid
Alpha Mwana Mtule has been through hell and back,his foster father fell out with his foster mother leading to him being chased away and ended up as a street kid.
“Budangu mwenye aliniokota alikosana na my step mom but mimi nilikuwa sijui kama wamekosana so mimi nilikuwa naishi tu apo kama kwa deni so kuna wakati tu pia unajua ile ujeuri ujeuri yangu nini wakapata ka excuse kidogo mbili tatu nikachujwa home” He added
At this point,he already knew he was musically gifted.While on his way to Nairobi after hiking lift on a petroleum tanker he was arrested and spent jail term at a juvenile center for he was still underage.
Fast forward,Alpha Mwana Mtule is among the most influential gospel artist’s in the country,he thanked all the people that have shown him love in his quest for stardom.He credits music producer, Philip Makanda of Main switch studio’s for his breakthrough.
His song ‘Mapenzi yako’ a collaborative piece with King kaka is currently ruling the airwaves, it’s a mixture of gospel rhumba and hip hop.It delves on God’s love notwithstanding human flaws.
Alpha Mwana Mtule has other songs namely Kieleweke,Kila Siku and Tunapendana among others.
