Maurice Ogeta bodyguard to Azimio leader Raila Odinga now says he was kidnapped whisked  and blindfolded before being thrown in an empty room.

According to Ogeta the police who at all time had masked themselves questioned him about Railas’ whereabouts, demonstrations plans and route Raila would take during protests.

“They demanded the route plan for almost 20 times and I told them my boss was unwell and I wasn’t sure if he (Raila) will even come out for the demonstrations but they continued pressing me to tell them his whereabouts, which I said I was unaware because I was just heading to the office,” Ogeta narrated.

He further revealed that the officers who he say were from DCI also questioned him about guns.

“They questioned me about the guns and my boss’ plans for the protests… I think my arrest and detention was about Jakom’s (Raila) whereabouts and the route plan.” he said.

Ogetas’ release was confirmed today morning by ODM communication director Philip Etale.

“Maurice Ogeta, bodyguard of Raila Odinga was released from police custody a few minutes to 1:00am and driven while blindfolded and left in the middle of the road in Ruai towards Kangundo. His car is vandalized. However, he is happy to be alive but still distraught and in shock,” Etale said.

The release came after a court on Friday ordered that he be presented before any court in the country.

Judicial Order

Meanwhile Justice Lawrence Mugambi issued the ruling on Friday where he directed that Ogeto be presented in any court in the Country.

“That, pending the hearing and determination of this application inter-parties, a writ of habeus corpus is hereby issued directing the 2nd Respondent to produce Maurice Ogeta before a court of competent jurisdiction in Nairobi or any other Court within the Republic of Kenya for an inquiry into the issue of his detention,” reads the notice.

“Leave is granted to the Petitioner/Applicant to file and serve any further documentation/replying affidavit if need be within three days,” reads the notice.
