The Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) Friday announced verified presidential results from five more constituencies.
In his midnight briefing, IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati announced results from Baringo Central, (Baringo County), Ol Jorok Constituency (Nyandarua County), Kathiani, (Machakos County), Kangundo ( Machakos County) and Lamu East Constituency (Lamu County).
Addressing the slow pace of the verification process, the IEBC Chair said that the commission was looking to add additional desks at the national tallying centre.
“Currently, we have 80 returning officers at Bomas which is serving as the national tallying centre. The verification exercise will continue even as the commission is looking to speed up the process,” he said.
Chebukati however warned candidates doing their own tallying not to use their results to declare themselves winners.
“We allowed candidates to do their own tallying. The tallying from candidates is for their own consumption. The candidates should not attempt to declare themselves using their own results,” he stated.
