The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC on Friday reached an agreement with Presidential candidates on primary results forms for Presidential elections, commonly referred to as Form 34A.
The two sides spent over three hours in a closed-door meeting called to address pertinent questions touching on the transparency, credibility, and preparedness of the commission to conduct the August 9 polls.
And after the deliberations with representatives of the four presidential candidates at the Bomas of Kenya, the commission’s Chairperson Wafula Chebukati disclosed that a decision had been arrived at that even though the electoral agency had printed two booklets of forms 34A, only one booklet will now be used for purposes of transmission of Presidential results.
According to IEBC the second booklet of form 34A will not be used and instead, it will be sealed upon arrival at the polling station and kept in the ballot box.
As regards questions surrounding the progress of forms 34B, the commission noted that printing is underway and that they will be delivered into the country alongside the remaining ballot materials.
The commission has however dismissed claims that 3,000 KIEMS kits are missing maintaining that every single one of them can be accounted for.
