The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is urging stakeholders in the August 9th general elections to ensure Kenya conduct a credible and peaceful election.
IGAD has deployed 24 short term election observers to 11 counties across the country.
The head of IGAD short-term Election Observation Mission to Kenya Dr. Mulatu Teshome Sunday oversaw the deployment of the observers.
The observers including representatives of electoral bodies and diplomats are drawn from six IGAD member states.
The team has been deployed to Nairobi, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Kajiado, Kisumu, Kisii, Kakamega, Machakos and Mombasa.
Dr. Mulatu said IGAD was confident that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC would deliver a credible election.
