Every posted student received a posting message via Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) ending the anticipations by the students and parents.
Anthony Omondi Wambui is one of the KCSE 2022 stars from Nakuru County who hit the headlines for his courage and sacrifice.
He opted to work as a mechanic to save for his university studies and to help the family.

Ambition
Anthony had earlier expressed his dream to become an Aeronautical Engineer. He now finds himself in a biochemistry class at Kenyatta University.
This has not dampened his spirits and in the contrary lifted.
“I am happy” he assertively responded to our question if he was pleased with the change.
He now hopes to through Biochemistry to solve the food security problem in Northern Kenya.
“I wish I could solve the food situation especially at Northern Kenya by creating crops that can do well in those parts”.
William Kabogo offers to help.
During the breakfast show #Brekko on a live call with Majimaji, the Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo offered to assist Anthony get through his first year comfortably. He promised to pay for his registration and 1st semester fee.
He was responding to the appeal after reading about his story on a tweet.

“Mmmh… when I’m meeting with Hon.????” Out of concern and excitement Anthony inquired.

Hope in the new University Funding plan
The government changed the funding plan that will see all university students placed via KUCCPS get funding but categorized on need base.
Each student is advised individually apply for the scholarships and loans soon after receiving admission letters. The level of funding will depend on monthly household income
In the categories, the vulnerable in will receive 100 percent scholarship with the government scholarship standing at 82 percent while the loan takes 18 percent.
The extremely needy students will receive 70 percent of government scholarships while the loans will contribute to 30 percent of the tuition fee.
Rightfully by his story of struggle, Anthony will be categorized as a needy student which will see him receive 70 percent scholarship from the government.
Education, Family and Juacali work
Anthony comes from a poor background raised by a single mum Pauline Wambui after his father passed on. They are four siblings.
His mother was working as casual under the Kazi Mtaani government initiative that was halted.

The 19 year old Anthony started working at the garage located in Nakuru on Kanu Street in January 2nd. He has been earning Shs. 500 per day, saves Shs.100 and gives the mum Shs. 400 to feed the family.
Anthony scored a mean grade of A- of 75 points in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams. He went to Langalanga Secondary high school becoming the second-best student in Nakuru County.
