Kibra MP-elect Imran Okoth has got down to work days after he emerged victorious in the hotly contested by-election.

Even before he is sworn, Imran on Tuesday inspected the ongoing construction of Kibera Secondary School that was started by his late brother and former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

Taking to Twitter, Imran vowed to fulfill his campaign promise by making sure that he commissions the learning institution within the next 100 days.

“One key promise was to handover Kibra Secondary School within my first 100 days in office. I inspected the ongoing works earlier today to ensure that I meet the target,” he said.

Education was of course one of Kenneth Okoth’s key focus areas for Kibra, and Imran looks set to continue in his brother’s footsteps.

Under the ‘Vision Elimu Kwanza’ five-year strategic plan, Ken Okoth was able to equip the Shadrack Kimalel Mixed Secondary School with a two-storey block comprising nine classrooms, a computer lab, a store, offices for heads of department and washrooms.

He also oversaw the rehabilitation of several schools such as Ayany, Joseph Kang’ethe and Kibera primary.

Ken Okoth also teamed up with media personality Jeff Koinange for the construction of the modern Mbagathi Girls High School in 2017. The facility’s library was named after the Citizen TV presenter.
