This sauce is pronounced “woo-stuh-sher” but spelt Worcestershire (created in the city of Worcester in Worcestershire, England) — but thank heavens for its shortened name — Worcester sauce (pronounced ‘woo-stuh’).

This sauce is a fermented condiment made of vinegar and flavoured with molasses, onion, garlic, anchovies, tamarind and other seasoning to create a sweet, savoury and tangy flavour.
It adds flavour to chicken, turkey, salads, chilli dishes and pasta, but is most popular with beef – steaks to be exact.
The sauce comes with a bunch of health benefits. Garlic, molasses and chilli pepper extract are loaded with Vitamin B6, which increases the action of the immune system. The sauce also has Vitamin E from the anchovies, chilli peppers and cloves. It also has Vitamin K, which is especially beneficial for women who are prone to bone loss due to a drop in oestrogen during menopause and blood loss for those with a heavy menstrual flow.
Homemade recipe: In a cooking pot, mix apple cider vinegar, low sodium soy sauce, ground ginger, onion powder, mustard powder, black pepper, cinnamon powder, brown sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Set aside to cool.
