Internet connected devices to hit 20 billion next year

It is expected that by next year, at least 20 billion devices will have been connected to the internet.

Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology that use devices connected to the internet to automate and monitor home systems is among technologies traction in Africa.

The technology became available to consumers between 1998 and the early 2000s. And since then, the technologies have been gaining traction.

Martin Njeru, a Presales Engineer at Adrian says SMART home technology allows users to control and monitor their connected home devices from SMART home apps, smartphones or other networked devices.

However, Njeru says there are a number of challenges. Users can remotely control connected home systems whether they are at home or away which allows for more efficient electricity use as well as ensuring your home is secure.

There are over 13 billion interconnected digital and electronic devices across the world and Africa is growing in terms of the innovation.
