Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has lost his seat at the senate.
This is after Speaker Ken Lusaka officially declared his seat vacant through a gazette notice.
“It is notified for the information of the general public that pursuant to Article 103 (1) (e) (i) of the constitution and section 37 of the Elections Act, the seat of the Member of the Senate elected under Article 98 (I) (d) of the constitution and held by Hon. Isaac Mwaura Maigua became vacant, with effect from the 7th May, 2021,” read the notice.
The Jubilee Party had expelled Mwaura for allegedly being disloyal to the party and for going against the party’s constitution by campaigning for an opposing candidate.
Mwaura’s defense that the party had not furnished him with enough details of the charges leveled against him were dismissed by the tribunal.
Mwaura had been expelled alongside Senator Millicent Omanga, Christine Zawadi, Mary Yiane, Prengei Victor and Naomi Jilo.
