The 2019 KCB Karen Masters scheduled to tee off next week at Karen Golf club is set to attract 156 golfers drawn from across the globe.

Plans for this year’s event are in high gear with thousands of golf fans expected to cheer on their favorite players when the tourney tees off on Wednesday June 26th with a Pro-Am tournament.

KCB Group Marketing and Communications Director Angela Mwirigi reiterated  that this year’s event will be mammoth adding that the bank will be keen to redefine the golfers and fans experience.

“KCB’s investment in the Karen Masters is informed by the need to continually support the expansion of sport tourism in East Africa, one of the fastest growing sectors in the East Africa tourism industry. The tournament has grown in its stature, and we are delighted to welcome top class golfers our country as we continue to redefine the golfing experience in the region” said Angela.

The KCB Karen Masters, a fully sanctioned Sunshine Tour event will be held on June 26th -30th, 2019 at the par 72 Karen Country Club. KCB Bank Kenya, the sponsor, has put aside a total of KShs.70 million with KShs. 15 million set aside as prize money and other amounts going towards organization and promotion of the event.

The tournament will run from will bring together 152 Pros and 4 amateurs for four days of superb golf action. Of these, 100 Pros will fly in from the Sunshine Tour to join 47 local and regional golf professionals.

The Bank’s continued backing by the Sunshine Tour, one of the world’s major golf Tours, has raised the profile of the tournament, exposing pros and amateurs to the allure of playing at such a world class event and effectively growing golf on the African Continent.

The event is a culmination of the KCB Road to the Masters, a KCB- sponsored five-leg series that has generated 30 amateur winners (six from each round) who will play at the Pro-am.

The five events were held in Nyali, Sigona, Thika, Nakuru and Royal Golf club on 15th June 2019.

There will be entertainment at the village from top Djs, Nyanshinski, Nai Boy, Nadia Mukami, and Heavy K from South Africa from Friday- Sunday. KCB has invited partners including Standard Group, Johnnie Walker, Coca Cola, DT Dobie to enhance the experience at the event for the thousands of golf fans expected to grace the event.

Entry at the vent will be Kshs 1500 for a season ticket and 500 daily. Local golf fans will be counting on the likes of CJ Wangai, Greg Snow, Simon Ngige and Indiza to post positive results this year and judging from their recent performances during the KCB Road to the Masters series, we will witness some good golf from the local pros.

The second edition of the event saw South African Michael Palmer crowned the Blue Jacket winner. Dismas Indiza was top placed Kenyan on 33rd position while Simon Ngige finished on the 44th position.
