Amidst reports of a deal that could see the TV star Jacque Maribe turn into a state witness against her fiancé Joseph Jowie Irungu in the Monica Kimani murder probe, details have emerged on the charges she will face in court.
Police revealed that the TV star will be charged with murder as evidence in their possession point to her indirect involvement in the crime and attempt to cover up the offence .
A local daily quoted DCI boss George Kinoti stating that “”We know that she helped Irungu cover up the offence by burning the clothes that he wore when he committed the crime.”
“We also have evidence pointing to her involvement in the crime.” He also added.
Responding to the reports of her client facing murder charges, Maribe’s lawyer Katwa Kigen divulged that he would fight in court to clear her client.
“We believe that the Police have got it wrong. But since they have made that decision, we will fight this charges in court,” he said.
This comes in the wake of reports indicating that the TV star is considering cutting a deal with the state to testify against her fiancé Joseph Jowie Irungu in the murder case, effectively turning her into a witness.
Maribe found herself at the center of the probe after she issued contradicting statements on her fiance’s gunshot wound and what transpired on the eve of Monica Kimani’s murder.
A raid conducted by police at her house saw the police recover a gun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.
Burnt remains of the clothes that Jowie allegedly wore on the day Ms Kimani was murdered were also found during the raid.
DNA analysis conducted by the police placed Jowie at the scene of the murder.
